Hey there.
This is the first post of my new blog, 89. I’ve blogged before, but I got lazy so the blog basically went dead. And now I’m back with a new blog. If you’re looking at this post, then that means you’re one of the first people ever to look at this blog. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you come back!

Being a third culture kid is hard. I graduated from high school last month, so I’m at that stage where I’m hanging out with friends before they leave and reminiscing about high school, slowly realizing that high school is now truly over, and anticipating life in university.
I went to the mall today and met up with two close friends of mine (both girls) – we did Shisha and talked for most of the time. We were hanging out, just like we did during high school, as if nothing has changed. Our conversation which covered a broad range of topics:
- people who have left the country
- Teeth (It’s a freaky movie. I watched it, and I got traumatized.)
- Basic catching up on what each of us has been doing since graduation
- Plans for the immediate future: “So when are you leaving?”
- Two girls and one cup - never watched it and don’t plan on doing so.
- How everything will change once we’re in college
- Bali Spring Break (reminiscing on the awesomeness of Bounty ship, infamous incidents and so on)
- Our nervousness surrounding the impending release of our IB exam scores
- Favorite high school teachers
- A round of “would you rather” questions (for example: would you rather have a thousand bees sting you in the face or one bee sting you in the butt – usually people say they’d rather get stung in the butt by one bee, BUT WAIT! there’s a catch : the one bee is Jollibee! It’s a very Filipino joke so I had to explain it to them before I got it but you get the idea)
- What our plans were next week so we can hang out again, and when other people are leaving so we can hang out with them too before they leave
During our hang-out time at the shisha cafe, I had this general feeling where all three of us wanted to leave and start with our new lives, but at the same time, we still wanted to stay and be with each other and everyone else before the time comes for us to leave.
Now that I look back in retrospect, I find it weird that I feel much more comfortable anticipating summer and the conclusion of high school and graduation, instead of having already finished high school. In high school I had structure, friends, and everything else that came with being in high school. My world was in order. Now that I’m done with high school, my world is slowly being torn down, making way for my new life in university. Haha I’m being super cliche right now.
